24.05.2022

The National Countryside Fair of Manzanares (Fercam) will celebrate its 60th edition from June 29 to July 3 and will have more than 200 exhibitors.

The Feria Nacional del Campo de Manzanares (Fercam) will celebrate its 60th edition from June 29 to July 3 and will feature more than 200 exhibitors that will occupy 100% of the enclosure, which will release an expansion of more than 5,000 square meters. This was explained at the municipal plenary session by the Councillor for Trade Fairs, Pablo Camacho.

The mayor responsible for Fercam responded in the plenary to a question from the UCIN group on the next edition of the National Fair of the Field, whose information committee will meet shortly, according to Camacho, to explain the details of an edition that, after two years, will again be in person and aims to be the best in its history, "to beat the record of visitors, exhibitors and, hopefully, business".

With just over two months to go, Pablo Camacho confirmed that Fercam will exceed 200 exhibitors this year, including international presence, and will have full occupancy, including the area with which the enclosure has been expanded and which will be one of the novelties of this edition of the reunion. It is more than 5,000 square meters located next to the main gate, in the area where the fair attractions were previously located, and that adds to the more than 120,000 meters of the enclosure. "It will allow us to respond to the waiting list we had," he reported in plenary session.

He also advanced that the program of events is being developed in collaboration with exhibitors, agricultural and business organizations to respond to the concerns of farmers and ranchers, as well as to strengthen the agri-food sector with tastings and activities that have great participation. In addition, to commemorate its sixty editions and to see how the fair has evolved, a photographic exhibition will be organized in the Gran Teatro.

Social emergency assistance

In the same plenary session, the first deputy mayor and councilor of Social Services, Prado Zúñiga, responded to another question from the UCIN group referring to municipal emergency social assistance. Pilar Maeso asked if, due to the increase in inflation, their amount had been increased.

Zúñiga explained that this item already grew in 2020, at the beginning of the pandemic, by 120% and went from 9,000 to 20,000 euros to address situations arising from the economic crisis produced by the confinement and Covid. Last year it maintained those 20,000 euros and in 2022 it has been increased by another 5,000 euros more, with a total of 25,000 euros, "the largest item for this purpose so far known in the City Council of Manzanares".

According to the aid consumed to date, the mayor estimated that the planned item will be sufficient to meet emergency needs. Prado Zúñiga recalled that these municipal aid "are intended to alleviate exceptional and urgent situations that may occur in citizens and families in the locality".

Preferably, the social emergency aid of the City Council of Manzanares is intended to cover expenses derived from basic food, hygiene, clothing and footwear; housing and equipment; and, since January last year, for energy supplies, reaching 50% of the total cost with a maximum amount of 100 euros. In all cases, different requirements must be met, as reported by the head of Social Services.

On the other hand, UCIN formulated a request to improve the asphalt and signaling of different streets of the Industrial Park. The Councilor of Works, Isabel Díaz-Benito, announced that road markings and zebra crossings are being repainted, also with light signals, and that the points where the road surface is worse are already identified to be asphalted "as soon as possible".
